Effortless Efficiency

Engineered to provide efficiency, the all-new Subaru e-Boxer Hybrids are powered by a unique e-Boxer engine. The vehicles feature an electric motor and high voltage battery, combined with a Boxer petrol engine to deliver a totally new driving experience.

The XV and Forester e-Boxer Hybrids utliise a 2.0 litre horizontally opposed Boxer engine linked via Motor Assist to a high voltage lithium ion battery, offering fuel economy benefits especially in congested city driving, or lower speed cruising around town or country.

What is e-Boxer?

Famous for our unique Boxer engines, Subaru has created hybrid vehicles that are true to our Subaru DNA. Introducing the Subaru e-Boxer Hybrid, that combines our Boxer engine with a lithium ion battery to make something that was made for our environment.

Subaru e-Boxer Hybrid is a 'mild hybrid' system that uses electric power (from a compact lithium-ion battery and electric motor) to assist the regular internal combustion engine.

The innovative e-Boxer Hybrid SUVs are equipped with identical petrol-electric engines that add a new dimension to Subaru’s range. Both hybrid models feature e-Boxer power - a 2.0 litre horizontally opposed Boxer engine linked via Motor Assist to a high voltage lithium ion battery, offering fuel economy benefits, particularly in congested city driving or lower speed cruising around town or country.

Charging on the go

Thanks to Subaru's e-Boxer Hybrid technology, there's no need to plug your vehicle in to charge and wait until you can get out adventuring. The electric motors in the e-Boxer Hybrids are regenerative/self-charging, meaning they use kinetic energy from the vehicle to recharge the battery.

When you are decelerating, braking or coasting and don't have your foot on the accelerator, the energy from the vehicle's movement is captured and used to recharge the e-Boxer Hybrid's battery. Delivering the efficiency of a hybrid, with no strings attached.

The all-new e-Boxer Hybrids are 100% Subaru, with all the capability you'd expect from a Subaru. Thanks to our All-Wheel Drive technology and legendary Boxer engines, the DNA that makes a Subaru unique flows through the e-Boxer Hybrids.

These new vehicles uses power from a compact battery and electric motor to assist the petrol engine – changing between Petrol Engine only, Electric Vehicle only and Motor Assist driving modes to match the conditions.
