The unique clamshell hood spans the entire width of the car, minimising panel gaps for a clean, high-tech look. The LED lighting showcases its signature Parametric Pixels – unique jewel-like design elements that will feature on the exterior of all future IONIQ models.

From night to bright in 256 pixels

See and be seen – the crown jewels of the iconic front-end presence are the distinctive LED headlamps with their 256 cubic pixels.

Bold and bright in the back

The innovative LED lighting design can be found in the back as well, with IONIQ 5’s signature Parametric Pixels highlighted in the unique rectangular rear light signature.

Spacious, sustainable living

Inside the IONIQ 5, the lines between living space and moving space are being blurred. Our new EV platform gave us the opportunity to re-create the interior as a whole new in-car experience. A larger flat floor, highly adjustable front seats that can be fully reclined, and a flexible centre console that can be moved throughout the cabin, make for an extraordinary experience.

Sliding centre console

Customise the interior layout to your needs. You can slide the centre console back to the rear seats, so your kids can use it as a picnic table or desk.

Wide-screen digital cockpit

The 12.3” infotainment screen is seamlessly integrated with the 12.3” cluster for a high-tech look that comes standard – for easy access to all driving, safety and infotainment functions.

Eco-friendly lifestyle without limits

Environmentally friendly materials are used extensively in the IONIQ 5, like eco-processed leather and recycled yarn. What’s more, raw materials extracted from sugar cane are used on the headliner, carpet and seat covers. A solution that is both recyclable and beautiful. The innovative use of natural materials is another contribution to sustainability in our manufacturing processes, making the IONIQ 5 less reliant on oil-based products.

Eco friendly fabric

Up to 32 plastic bottles are shredded into plastic chips. These chips are melted and spun into threads that makes an inviting woven upholstery fabric. The fabric made from recycled PET bottles are used on the seats and door armrests.

Eco friendly leather

The seat, headlining and carpet fabric includes bio components extracted from sugar cane and corn, while the leather used in the IONIQ 5’s interior is dyed using flaxseed oil.

Bio paint

The IONIQ 5’s surfaces such as the dashboard, switches, steering wheel and door panels are coated with bio paint that includes oil extractions from plants such as rape flowers and corn.

The IONIQ 5 is equipped with a stellar range of intuitive smart tech to make life inside as connected as you want to be.

Fully digital 12.3" cluster

The fully digital 12.3” instrument cluster displays driver centric information, it has a day and night mode as well as a different colour scheme linked to the drive mode selected.

12.3" touchscreen

The 12.3” infotainment touchscreen gives you access to a comprehensive menu from connectivity to preference settings. This is supplemented with new generation voice activation control for most common requests such as heated seats and steering wheel settings.

Wireless charging & USB ports

There’s a high-speed wireless charger port in the moveable centre console the Universal Island – that can slide back as much as 140 mm, which means second-row passengers can also enjoy access to the cup holders, USB ports and phone charger. The 15-watt unit features a cooling function that prevents smartphone overheating for added safety.

BOSE premium sound system

The available BOSE premium sound system delivers stellar performance with eight high-performance speakers optimally tuned to deliver amazing sound.

Hyundai SmartSense^TM safety features

The IONIQ 5 provides peace of mind with a full suite of active and passive safety features resulting in a 5 star ANCAP safety rating under the latest criteria. The IONIQ 5 also was able to produce the best score observed in the ‘Crash Partner’ category, protecting occupants of other vehicles.

Hyundai’s SmartSense^TM technology provides active driver assistance. Through the use of powerful sensors and cameras, SmartSense^TM is able to constantly monitor your surrounding environment for hazards or danger. Should a collision be detected the system will alert and then aid the driver to defuse the dangerous situation. In addition, Ionic 5 also includes seven airbags as standard, providing the ultimate protection for occupants.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)

Stops your car fast, even if you’re distracted. FCA alerts you to slowing or stopped vehicles as well as cyclists and pedestrians in your path – and automatically applies full braking power if you don’t react in time.

Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)

Delivering more safety in dense traffic, BCA will warn you and automatically apply the left or right brakes and control the steering when a vehicle is detected in your blind spot and you begin to change lanes.

Lane Following Assist (LFA)

Keeps you centred and safer. When activated, it keeps the vehicle centred in its lane at speeds between 0 and 185 kilometres per hour on highways and city streets.

Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA)

This clever feature for city driving alerts the driver when the vehicle in front departs from an idle state, like at a stoplight or in a traffic jam.

Driver Attention Warning (DAW)

When a pattern of fatigue or distraction is identified, the system gets your attention with an alert and pop-up message suggesting a break.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)

Perfect for parking lots. When reversing out of areas with low visibility, the system not only warns the driver if vehicles approach from the side – it also applies the brakes automatically

Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA)

This semi-autonomous driving feature recognises road speed signs and adjusts vehicle speed to match the speed limit (when activated).

High Beam Assist (HBA)

Less stress and maximum visibility. Detects oncoming vehicles and vehicles in the same lane ahead and switches to low-beam as appropriate, reactivating the high-beam when no vehicles are detected.

Leading the charge into the electric era with E-GMP

IONIQ 5 is the first vehicle built on Hyundai’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This dedicated battery electric vehicle platform enables faster charging, increased driving range, more interior space and better handling. The battery pack’s position within the wheelbase ensures ideal weight distribution between the front and rear and a low centre of gravity for improved handling performance.

E-GMP means more room for passengers

E-GMP enables the creation of innovative interiors designed uniquely for Electric Vehicles to provide a new electrified mobility experience for our customers. The space-consuming AC system has been moved from inside the car to the extra space created by replacing the engine with an electric motor – leaving more room for passengers in the front.

E-GMP means more legroom

The low-mounted battery and the flat floor from removal of the centre tunnel result in much more legroom for passengers.

E-GMP means flexible seat arrangements

The flat floor also allows front and back seats to be arranged in numerous ways to accommodate lunch breaks and road trips and anything else you'd like to do – providing an innovative electrified experience.

Next level electric performance

Battery and range

Pick your power and preferred range. The IONIQ 5 is available with three battery options: 58 kWh (Standard Range), 72.6 kWh (Extended Range) or 77.4 kWh (Long Range). The 58 kWh IONIQ 5 offers up to 384 km of range whilst the 2WD 72.6 kWh model with 19" alloy wheels will travel up to 481 km.

Furthermore, you can choose an all-wheel-drive version (AWD) with dual electric motors or a rear-wheel drive version (2WD) with a single electric motor. The 72.6 kWh battery delivers 160 kW in 2WD and 225 kW in AWD, whilst the 77.4 kWh Limited provides 239 kW in AWD dual motor format. The 58 kWh battery provides 125 kW in a 2WD powertrain.

Regenerative braking

Equipped with cutting-edge technology for intelligent driving, the IONIQ 5’s regenerative braking system charges the battery while driving by using the electric motor to slow the vehicle. You can control the level of energy that the system regenerates and stores in the battery by adjusting the level of regenerative braking with the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The higher the level, the more the car slows and charges the battery when you take your foot off the accelerator.

Holding the left paddle shifter activates maximum strength of regenerative braking and you can slow the car to a complete stop in this way without having to press the conventional brake pedal.

Ultra-fast charging / Fast charging

Enjoy the speed and convenience of best-in-class charging times. No time to wait? Don’t worry, you can add 85 km of range in 5 minutes at an ultra-fast charging station – and charge from 10 to 80% in just 25 minutes!

Hyundai’s world’s-first patented technology supports both 400V and 800V charging infrastructure without the need for additional components or adapters. Which means you can get in and out of rapid charging stations faster, because you have the flexibility of using a different charger if one type is occupied.

Home charging / AC charging

Depending on your grid connection at home or the type of charging station you have access to, the IONIQ 5 gives you a range of flexible charging possibilities aside from ultra-fast DC charging. You can charge at home overnight to take advantage of off-peak rates or top up at the grocery store when you’re shopping – the powerful 11 kW on-board charger gives you a range of flexible possibilities.
